Bahamian Defense Forum

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) is the naval military branch of The Bahamas, established in 1980 under the Defence Act. It is tasked with defending the nation's sovereignty, protecting territorial waters, conducting maritime patrols, and providing disaster relief and search-and-rescue operations. The RBDF comprises approximately 1,600 personnel and includes specialized units such as the Commando Squadron, Patrol Squadron, and Air Wing. It operates a fleet of patrol vessels and aircraft, and collaborates with regional and international partners to enhance maritime security.
