Iran launched three small satellite (a mini and two cube sats) yesterday to test and verify the newly modified carrier "Simorgh" and also the multiple satellite release mechanism . . This was a test run for eventual construction of Iranian Version of GPS called "Solaimani" constellation that will require many smaller satellites launched at the same time .

I open this new thread with a wonderful news...Iranian civilian space program is back on its feet with a test.
Iran's latest "Habitation Capsule" weighing 500 kg was test launched to low earth orbit (130 km) today. The SLV that launched the capsule payload is SALMAN...Appears to be the first test for both systems ....more later.

This was a test for space technologies in the areas of launch, recovery and speed control systems, impact shield, capsule aerodynamic design and parachute and as well as the systems related to control and monitoring of biological conditions.

Busy three months ahead for Iran's civilian space agency

Some highlights from today's Interview with ISA chief:
  • New projects in the design stage..Pars-2 and Pars -3 and NAHID-3 Satellites..also orbital boost system version II
  • Parse -2 will have resolution of 8 meters color and 4 meters black and white
  • Pars-3 will have resolution of 5 meters color and 2 meters black and white.
  • NAHID-3 is communication Satellite for low orbits
  • SAR Satellite has entered design phase
  • Test Labs for 500 and 1000 kg objects are now under construction
  • Solaimani constellation meant for "Internet of things" is a narrow band system and is now in the design phase.
  • Private sector Sats (PAZOHESH-1,2 3,4) in the process of definition and contracts,
On the SLV subject :
  • current Iranian year 1402 is the year we stabilize operations of Simorgh and zoljaneh SLV
  • SARIR SLV design almost done and entering build phase.
  • Will use foreign SLV for Iranian payloads currently in a long Q.

Iran's doing good in the space arena despite all the sanctions and pressure. These tests also double up as validation tests for its covert ICBM program. Man, we don't even have a space program anymore and we were the first muslim country to have a space program. Just goes to show the level of negligence and mismanagement of our country. I'm so disappointed with our generals.

I think Space for Pakistan is a question of $$$ that has to be allocated to it because Space is very $$$ Hungary ..I know that Pakistan was first to start with NASA in some project in the 60s..

For Iran you are correct ..ICBM capability is one of the big reasons..the other two reasons are commercial satellite capability because iran was kicked out of all satellite sharing ..the third reason is to have independent Navigations capabilities mullahs can not trust Russian or Chinese systems due to possible political interference so they provided $$$ for solaimani constellation to be developed in the next few years.

I see what Irans doing and it is a commendable effort. I don’t even think any other Muslim country has a real space program or any homegrown technology or capability. If Iran sets up its own space station it would be the equivalent of pulling a coup d’etat in space. The west will literally shitt their pants just from the shock effect.
