In July 2021, General António Egídio de Sousa Santos, Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, embarked on an official visit to Rwanda from July 26 to July 30. During this visit, he engaged in bilateral discussions with General J Bosco Kazura, Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force, at the RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura. The discussions centered on strengthening existing military cooperation between the two nations across various areas, including operations and training. General Santos emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration between the armed forces of Angola and Rwanda.

In April 2023, the Angolan Armed Forces, in partnership with the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), conducted a medical readiness exercise in Luanda, Angola. The exercise, known as MEDREX Angola, took place from April 7 to April 13. The primary objective was to enhance medical readiness and build robust partnerships between U.S. and Angolan military medical professionals. Medical teams collaborated across various specialties, including general surgery, nursing, and emergency care, to provide critical care to approximately 60 patients in Luanda.
In June 2024, the inaugural meeting of the Joint Angolan-American Defense Cooperation Committee was held, focusing on strengthening defense relations and cooperation between Angola and the United States. The committee aimed to enhance bilateral defense ties and explore opportunities for collaboration in various defense-related areas.
