BCL attacks quota reform protesters

The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) barred the students who have been protesting against the quota system in government jobs, from entering the Bijoy Ekattor Hall of Dhaka University. The two sides locked in clashes over this. Following this, the BCL leaders and activists carried out attacks on protesters at different spots of the university, injuring a number of students, including female students. The photos were taken by Sazid Hossain, Ashraful Alam and Dipu Malakar

People in the govt. who enabled and armed the Chhatra League goondas and hoodlums (some rented goondas as well) should immediately step down if they want to avoid dire consequences in the future. This includes the Education Minister, Home Minister Kamal as well as Bridges and communications minister (and AL presidium member) Obaidul Quader who were complicit in the police, Ansar, BGB and RAB fatal actions and deadly violence against the students.

Pictures of all govt. sponsored Chhatra League goondas unleashing violent actions on students have all been published in popular media. These people are now marked. This govt. needs to answer why the blood of the people is in their hands.

There is unending conversation and discourse on this in Bangladesh now, and all Chhatra league student political leaders have been kicked out of the residential dormitories in Dhaka and Chittagong universities. Young people in Dhaka were so angry, some leaders in Chittagong were thrown down from second and third story dormitories.

It is clear that people and students generally have had it with the dictatorship practices of Awami League. They have lost confidence in this AL govt. which has completely lost public trust and popular mandate to govern.

Now what happens in the future is uncertain, but will not include smooth sailing for Hasina and AL.

The UN should declare Chatra League as a terrorist organization at the soonest.

Agree 100%. Judging from the pictorial violent evidence, their main leaders should be sanctioned ASAP. Student politics in essence should be banned as well. No other country in the subcontinent has student politics as strong as a crutch for the ruling party like in Bangladesh.
