A complaint was filed with the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday, seeking an investigation into the alleged roles of 28 actors, media personalities and journalists -- including Anis Alamgir, Shaon and Aruna Biswas -- in crimes against humanity, incitement to mass killings and other alleged offences during the July 2024 uprising.
The complaint was filed by Al Nur Mohammad Ayash, central member secretary of the Rastrosonglap Forum.
Confirming the matter to The Daily Star, ICT Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam said, "We have received the complaint and are about to send it to the investigation agency."
According to the complaint, allegations have surfaced at various times that those named were involved in crimes against humanity, incitement to mass killings, aiding and abetting, and other related offences in connection with the July Uprising.
It requested the tribunal to conduct a fair, transparent and lawful investigation into the allegations.
The complaint requested the ICT to investigate the allegations and take legal action if evidence is found.
Those named in the complaint are former cultural affairs minister and actor Asaduzzaman Noor; former lawmaker and actor Ferdous Ahmed; actors and media personalities Hero Alom, Symon Sadik, Zayed Khan, Azizul Hakim, Chandan Reza, Riaz Ahmed, Sazu Khadem, Meher Afroz Shaon, Aruna Biswas, Shomi Kaiser, Rokeya Prachy, Mahiya Mahi, Nipun Akter, Tanvin Sweety, Hridi Haq, Jyotika Jyoti, Sohana Saba, Shamima Tusty, Ashna Habib Bhabna, Sujata Azim; model and lawyer Pia Jannatul, model Maria Kispotta, Shanta Farzana, Momin Mehdi, Channel i presenter Soma Islam and journalist Anis Alamgir.
