Because of proximity of China and Chinese culture. However, it is almost non existence now. You are talking of something 3 decades back.

Krish, this was just in 2024:

Also, whenever some Indians that aren't the majority do something bad, you say they are 'not Indians', they are 'Chinese, Pakistanis, Sikhs'.

But if that's the case, why don't you give freedom to Nagaland, Kashmir, and Punjab? @Lulldapull @Sharma Ji

India is a vegetarian nation by and large. Our per capita meat consumption is Just 3% of many other nations consuming high meat /Non veg. Whatever you write is in that proportion only. Citing one example / incident doesn't prove anything.

If you go by that logic, only the Koreans near the North Korean border in China and the Vietnamese near the Vietnam border in China eat dogs & cats.

Why do you insult the Chinese on large but when other point out what Indians do you get upset?

  • 77%: According to the National Family Health Survey-5 (NFHS-5) from 2019-2021, 77% of Indians eat meat

  • 80%: According to a Rediff.com study, 80% of Indians are non-vegetarians

  • Over 90%: According to the NFHS-5, over 90% of the population in more than half of India's states and union territories eat meat daily, weekly, or occasionally

Not upset atall. Where is the question of being upset? Don't the people of Pakistani Punjab and Indian Punjab share same custom, tradition, eating habit? Don't the people of POK and Kashmir shares the same eating habit? Don't the Rajasthani people and people of Sindh has same customs and eating habits? I see Pakistani a lot more similarities and way of living between we Gujarati people of Saurashtra and Kutch villages with the villages of Pakistan than what we have with Kerala. Lot more similarities between the living habit of Indian and Pakistani than Indian with Indian. Who can deny this? People in some part follow certain life style and habits. Boundry of nations keep shifting. Do you agree with that?

If that is the case, how can meat consumptio9n of India can be as low as 5% of other nations consuming daily meat? This can be rejected from first site itself for being illogical. Here is the calculation.

80% consume meat. Half of it is 40%. Out of which 90% consume meat daily. This turn out to be 36%. So assuming that any country fully surviving on meat 100%, India's meat consumption should atleast be 36% of those nations. The fact of matter is that it is just less than 5%. Conclusion: The data cited are wrong.

Bhai just accept it, we are not veggies, the majority of the junta.

My family is veggie, we even have musalman friends of the family who have gone veg... vegetarianism is ubiquitous here, Har jageh veg only option ka restaurant milega, Udupi or otherwise.

But meat consumption bhot hai, you're from and work and live in Gujarat bhai, wahan ka scene ekdum alag hai, kabhi travel kar de dekho rest of India is not that way about meat... maybe some temple pilgrimage towns like Pushkar, Katra ( I had chilli chicken in Katra, it was nice )
