Here is Kunming Changshui Airport, closest large Chinese city airport to Bangladesh (about ~800 miles). The airport for this 3rd tier city in China looks to be larger than LAX, or Mumbai or Istanbul. Now imagine what the larger cities in China (and their airports and train terminals) look like.

I don't know how to explain. In fact, this is corruption. Unnecessary construction. I don't know how many billion yuan it costs. How many have entered the wallets of officials.

Especially in the current economic downturn.

Well this is a global phenomenon. Overspending on construction so officials take a bigger cut. What can us citizens do? Except report and criticize?

At least Kunming has an airport that will not need to be expanded for a while. And was built far cheaper than would be 20 years later.
