Construction highlights on the 4320 MW-Dasu Hydropower Project;

Electricity generation from the project is schedule in 2026.

The 1530 MW-Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project will start electricity generation in August 2025.

It will contribute 1.347 billion units clean, green and low-cost electricity to the National Grid every year. World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank are providing US$ 390 and 300 million respectively for construction of the Project.

With its completion, installed capacity at Tarbela Dam will increase from 4888 MW to 6418 MW.

Diamer Basha Dam is scheduled for completion in 2028. The Dam will store 8.1 MAF water and generate 4,500 MW low-cost electricity.

WAPDA is constructing 8 projects including Diamer Basha Dam.

These projects will be completed from 2024 to 2028-29 in a phased manner to add 9.7 MAF to water storage and 10,000 MW to power generation capacity.
