Balochistan always been top priority for president-elect Zardari: CM Bugti


Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has said that president-elect Asif Ali Zardari has always had the development of the country’s largest province as his top priority.
In a post on X, Bugti said this was an expression of Zardari’s “selfless love” for Balochistan and its people. “It is a source of joy,” Bugti said.
 

X’s disruption in Pakistan reaches three-week mark: Netblocks


Microblogging website X (formerly Twitter) has now been restricted in Pakistan for three weeks, according to Internet tracking organisation Netblocks .
“The popular microblogging platform has been largely unavailable since 17 February following a series of social media shutdowns targeting political opposition and an election day telecoms blackout,” Netblocks said in a post on X.
 

Govt to form small cabinet of competent people, says Ataullah Tarar


PML-N leader Ataullah Tarar has said that the government will form a small cabinet of competent people.
Speaking on Geo News programme Naya Pakistan, he said this way a “good message will be sent to the people”.
“A small cabinet has to be formed,” Tarar added. “The PM’s vision is to allot ministries to those who work hard and can take the country out of crisis.”
Terming the incumbent coalition government alliance as “exemplary”, Tarar said the Federation has become strong due to PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari being elected as the next president.
“We had a good meeting with him earlier,” Tarar said. “They thought it was better for them to take constitutional positions. This doesn’t mean that they won’t be included in policy formation.”

PTI’s Ali Muhammad Khan says he expected more from Dr Alvi as president


PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan has said that he expected more from outgoing President Dr Arif Alvi when the party was going through tough times.

Speaking on Geo News programme Naya Pakistan, he said it won’t be appropriate to comment on Alvi’s legacy just a day after he received a guard of honour and is leaving the presidency.

“He is one of the most senior leaders,” Ali Muhammad said. “Maybe he was helpless due to the situation. All these things will be analysed as time passes by.”

Achakzai requests Nawaz to control charged political environment


PkMAP Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai has requested PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to tell the saner elements in his party to control the charged political environment.

Speaking to the media at the Parliament House today, he said: “You (Nawaz) may not like your opponents but a huge population of the country has voted for them.”

“We have to bear and take care of each other. It can be done in a way. Why are we taking parliamentary problems being taken to court?” he added.

Achakzai noted that it would be better if the charged political environment could be controlled because the country was embroiled in myriad problems.

“We are small, [but our] problems are big. Our small mistakes will destroy everything, I request for the sake of the country that we have to sit together to resolve it,” he concluded.

Achakzai says presidential election generally fair, grateful to PTI for support


SIC-backed Mahmood Khan Achakzai, after losing the presidential election to PPP’s Asif Zardari, has said that the presidential election was generally fair.

“The most unusual thing about this election was that the first time it has happened votes were neither bought nor sold,” he said while speaking to the media In Islamabad.

“There are some people in Pakistan who think that everything can be bought and sold he Pakistan,” he said, adding that there is a distinction growing between people who could be bought and those can be not.
He also expressed his gratitude to the PTI leadership for their support.
