I'm sure you are the expert.

So it must be true.
far from, but I do recall reading about some US big pharma being upset about it.

Anyway, not really something that interests me too much.

This is from same article you posted.

Research, the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) market was valued at USD 300,722.26 billion in 2021 and is expected to reach a value of USD 540335.81 billion by 2029 at a CAGR of 7.6% during the forecast period of 2022 to 2029.

Guy, the fake figure quoted is not even the GDP of whole world put together. Atleast read something you quote.

Still does not invalidate the fact that 70-80% of the API raw materials that Indian pharma uses is imported from China.

China can raise API prices unilaterally or even block them from Indian shores - killing Indian Pharma. And this is without the double whammy of Trump's threatened tariffs for Indian Pharma imports to the US.

Pharma Industry insiders in India are all unanimous about it - and you are not.

Is this a vulnerability for India - yes or no?

@Jiangnan what do Chinese API manufacturing insiders say about it?

So far as Trump's tariff policy is concerned, every nation has surrendered except India. China, Japan, Qatar surrendered and accepted higher tariff or accepted to invest heavily in US though it is not and attractive destination for investment. It shows that which country has spine and confidence to handle US and take a stand against US. You are asking losers' opinion who surrendered infront of Trump's threat.

Leaders of a country have a responsibility to ensure that the economy which they manage is not inconvenienced, much less ruined.

If this tariff war continues - Modi having "spine and confidence to handle US" will mean little. One is the world's leading superpower and another is a 3rd world country (though large). All the US has to do is tell every G7 country to stop importing Indian products+labor+talent (which they have just started doing). India's fate will be sealed.

Why is it so difficult to understand the client-provider relationship. Think!

Over-confidence and hubris leads to ruination.

It is very surprising that you want to give all credit to raw material suppliers while but not to the nation who makes quality drugs. Most of Raw material is imported from China because of cost factor. If China is so great than why the quality of Chinese drugs are not so great and China is not considered as the pharmacy of the world.

It seems that you have a great insight into economy. By the way we have claimed to 4 th position from 10 th position in 11 years and shall be no 3 in couple of years. IMF has predicted India to be a 55 Tr USD economy by 2047.
