Ye basically Buddhist qaum hae Japanese.No special plans for Xmas. I'm supposed to fly home but those plans are looking iffy.. dont really celebrate xmas either.. if I'm down south, its generally very festive around here.. get a usual prawn something maybe ?

You didn't get my question. One can be secular by practising religion, doing rituals, etc also. So the question is do Japanese practice religion?
My wife’s Shinto, which is the main religion here in Japan. However Shinto religion is basically worshipping nature. So come February you go to the main Shinto shrine here in the city of Ise. There you go stand in front of the main altar, clap twice and bow your head. Stay silent for a minute……put a donation in the box. Take a few steps back, bow down and walk out in solitude.
