Short Summary: Christmas dinner
Does Japan even have Halal anything? Don't they eat frogs there?
No frogs, very little beef, lamb chicken or pork.......it's all sea food here bro. This country surrounded by the ocean.

I wish I could get those delicious pepperonccini/ cucumbers and cracked spicy Lebanese olives here.

You know Lebanese food the best in the entire middle east no?

No special plans for Xmas. I'm supposed to fly home but those plans are looking iffy.. dont really celebrate xmas either.. if I'm down south, its generally very festive around here.. get a usual prawn something maybe ?

Ghar gaya toh ghar ka khana, sarson da saag makkai roti or something, maybe a rajma chawal 😛

🙁 dhoondho, zaroor milega some sorta desi restaurant.

At least you got good macchi, but Japanese, I imagine, is very acquired taste waali cuisine. Order in a Yakitori grill something.. or is that not allowed ? 😆

idhar bhi, not so easy for north Indian palate.. tastes all different and not proper.. sure there's the odd restaurant but you really gotta search and find em, not ubiquitous.

What yous all plannin to cook up? I'm in a dilemma now hunting for the pepperonchino pickled peppers here in Japan.

I don't cook bhai. I am an extreme caveman.

Chai bhi garam nahin karta if I can get away with it. Which is most times.

Old days when the kids were smaller, we used to drive around Poona in the cantonement past all the major churches, during the midnight mass. Just to see the crowds of makapavs and the festivities.

Nowadays, not so much. Plum cake will be there. Gifts will still be put up by the mrs after the kids sleep (one teen, and 2 in their 20s lol). The tree and lights will be there, which sometimes stays on for weeks.

We have a big compound. And an actual live real tree.

You didn't get my question. One can be secular by practising religion, doing rituals, etc also. So the question is do Japanese practice religion?
My wife’s Shinto, which is the main religion here in Japan. However Shinto religion is basically worshipping nature. So come February you go to the main Shinto shrine here in the city of Ise. There you go stand in front of the main altar, clap twice and bow your head. Stay silent for a minute……put a donation in the box. Take a few steps back, bow down and walk out in solitude.

That’s about the extent of religion I’ve seen here bhai…..
