I don't think their ties have ever been tested.

Pak - US ties have been more than tested, it is now a strained relationship between the two, China saw an opening and swooped in, there's all sorts of strategic gain in it for them.

International relations are always transactional in nature, ceded Aksai to them, now they're building infra in Pak.

Sooner or later they'll want some vasooli, spread their tentacles deeper into the workings of the Pak government and Fauj.

Mission creep proper.

I don't believe Pakistan has any value left for China. Pakistan will not go to war against India on Chinese instructions.

Its the same situation Mr Assad found himself in a few months ago.

He refused to go to war against Israel on Iranian orders, despite Syria owing $53 billion to Iran in financial debt.

Pakistan always had a better relationship with China, there was no "swooping."

Pak was ALWAYS friendlier with China than America. Go read history.
