Today marks the eighth anniversary of the passing of the esteemed Pakistani film actor, producer, and director, Habib-ur-Rehman. Born in 1931 in the Indian state of Patiala, he left an indelible mark on the film industry, appearing in over six hundred Punjabi and Urdu films and earning acclaim as a prominent romantic lead.
Beginning his cinematic journey in 1956 with 'Lakht-e Jigar' alongside Noor Jehan, his career soared with hits like 'Zeher-e-Ishq' with Mussarat Nazeer and 'Devdas' with Shamim Ara and Nayyar Sultana, which garnered international acclaim. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored with the Presidential Pride award by the government.
Habib-ur-Rehman passed away in Lahore in 2016 after battling a prolonged illness. Today, we remember his legacy and enduring impact on Pakistani cinema.
