Ever since its birth 2500 years ago as an entity, Iran's always blocked the Greeks, the Romans, the Arabs, the Russians and today the West.

And also it absorbed the maximum heat and wrath of Arab evangelical zeal, so that by the time they hit India (or the Mongols or Alexander before them) they had pretty much run out of steam.

India's Muslims are basically second degree converts.
