Its one of the foreign legions of Iran. There are 50 others bhai.....
Ya, but skorti issue hai na for Pak ? They went to Iraq/Syria in big numbers.. cannon fodder types.

Hussaini Brahmins are also a thing, fought in the original battle of Karbala or something.

A quick Gooble sez:

Hussaini Brahmins are a unique Hindu community primarily found in the Punjab region, with historical ties to the Battle of Karbala. They are a sub-community of Mohyal Brahmins, and a prominent figure, Sunil Dutt, the father of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, was reportedly a member of this group. While adhering to traditional Hindu practices, Hussaini Brahmins also observe Muharram, a Muslim tradition commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain.

This has been debunked by experts. There is no evidence of Brahmins participating in battle of Karbala

Hmm, ok.. I haven't much of an idea.

Could well be an urban myth too
100% urban myth. What must have happened is that their ancestors may have gotten influenced by Islam, and adopted some practices in their lives. Despite this the Muslims wouldn't have accepted them, and these Brahmins developed some cock and bull story of having contributed to the Islamic cause to gain acceptance. Not the first time Indians (esp of the region now in Pakistan) displayed wannabe behaviour.

Many sikh families in what is Pakistan right now regularly had muslim names. Men and women both. Mainly Persian.

@Lulldapull @TheNewb77 and @Mainerik can confirm.
