This is what happens in an unequal society.

India is ranked 105th out of 127 countries included in the ranking in the 2024 GHI report. India's child wasting rate, at 18.7 percent, is the highest child wasting rate in the report; its child stunting rate is 35.5 percent; its prevalence of undernourishment is 13.7 percent; and its under-five mortality rate is 2.9 percent.

The story is roughly similar in Pakistan but Bangladesh fares a tiny bit better, still - no cause for joy. Same to same.

Inequality hi sahi hai.

Dalits are evil souls doing karma time in their latest incarnation on earth, that's why they are outside of even the caste system.

They should not be allowed to vote either, just as they are not allowed to step in our temples.

Point well taken. Maybe you are joking.

However consider the fact that you were born in a Dalit family and had no opportunity to seek betterment of your life. You were born kaley, natey, bhukhey, nangey and would remain that way for the rest of your life.

Voting is secondary, which does not house, feed or clothe you.

But being in a situation where you have no opportunity (by societal design) to improve your condition and station in life is highly dissatisfactory for a human being.

This is why Islam won converts - because when you go to the mosque (any of them), the CEO of your company prays with you shoulder to shoulder. Being rich/poor or lower caste does not matter. All are equally welcome and in fact, welcomed - by command of the creator.

Everyone has equal access in the highest and the most grand of mosques - whether it be the Hagia Sophia or the Prophet's (SAW) mosque in Madina. No donation, tithes or "arghya" (offering) needed/wanted. No priest deciding whether you can use the water coming out of the faucet.

These are two mosque choices I have when in Dhaka. Both are air-conditioned, super clean and entry is free even for indigent folks like beggars and rickshaw pullers.

Not a religious nut myself - but I look at it from a neutral point of view and it makes sense.
