Sindhis were originally never considered to be a caste under Sanatana dharma. They were outside the caste system. Therefore, they were not even Hindu or Buddhists. To escape this social dogma they converted to Islam along with their landlords or feudal loads who owned their lands where Sindis used to work as serfs. I also know about the background of Punjabi converts.

It doesn't matter. Caste system is part of the Hindus. Sindhis were outcasts similar to Dalits.

You will see it from their family names. If the Punjabi Muslims converted from high castes, they kept the caste name as surnames. Otherwise, it became Rehman, Ahmed, Haq etc to hide their low caste backgrounds
It is not enough to follow the Vedas to be a Hindu. One must follow Gita and Manusamhita etc.
