Bangladesh navy has a plan to produce 6 high performance frigates locally. Why don't Turkey offer it's frigate design to Bangladesh navy? This will open a new chapter of naval cooperation between two brotherly nations.

Update: 31 Warships currently being built. Construction of MİLDEN and TF-2000 have begun. First steel was cut just before the end of 2024

Not to derail the thread but Meko200 Frigate i.e. Barbaros Class (about 3300 tonnes) is a German copyrighted design by Blohm+Voss. So Blohm and Voss has to offer the design to Bangladesh in case Bangladesh is interested. I don't know if Turkish yards have rights to offer it to third countries.

Maybe brother @LegionnairE can tell us why Turkish yards are building two very similar frigate designs like Meko200 and Istif class and what are the intended roles for each (like ASW specialization etc.)

The other Turkish-origin frigate design MilGem I-class (Istif Class) design, of which TCG Istanbul is an example, as shown below (3000 plus tonnes) which are ideal for Bangladesh usage, especially as it has VLS magazines which can probably be modified to use Chinese-Turkish Hyper velocity naval missiles (YJ-21 or CM401). The J-600T Yildirim i.e. B600 or Bora can also be VLS mounted I believe.

TF-2000 is another larger Turkish design (destroyer displacing 8000 plus tonnes) which may be too large a displacement for Bangladesh use. Just baby steps for now.

A smaller scaled down variant of the Istif-class is the Ada class (2400 tonnes each), of which four examples were built for Pakistan (PNS Babur, Khyber, Badr and Tariq) last two were built at Karachi Shipyard. This is still about the same size as the BN Flagship F25 Bangabandhu which is an Ulsan class ship. The new BNS frigates need to displace around 4000 plus tonnes and have to have much longer endurance than current BNS naval frigates as endurance in naval assets is the issue.

We're not "building two very similar frigate designs" we're building istif class frigates and we're modernizing the Barbaros class with istif's systems.

Lol no. J600T wouldn't fit inside those VLS cells. They are mainly for Hisar and Siper SAMs. If you want more firepower ATMACA tube launchers can be replaced with more VLS cells or you could go straight for ASFAT AS-3600 which is a heavier frigate design. Which is a viable alternative for countries that can't afford TF-2000
