No!......cutting corners, letting the building contractors get away with using substandard/ unapproved materials and bypassing building structural/ electrical design codes and allowing nepotism, cronyism and patronage in choosing building contractors = corruption of society!

This is nothing......ask my turkish friends what was done as compensation for the deadly earthquakes from a year ago which killed a million people in the southern region.

Nothing!

50k, not a million

No punishment for those in charge???
Nobody in the ministry of tourism that actually gave the permit got punished, instead they tried to use this opportunity to get rid of the local mayor who is a well known opposition figure.

Nobody gives a fvck about the dead and suffering. All they do is try to gain political leverage using their corpses.

So a Million people may have been killed? Is that true? Mostly Kurds, Syrians in Turkey?

a lesser government official admitted somewhere that the death count was over 130 thousand. As for their ethnicities, it's a majority Turkish region.

Update on this, nobody from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the government apparatus actually responsible for overseeing the safety standards and procedures of hotels such as this got punished in any way. They tried to shift the blame to the Mayor of Bolu who is only responsible for Bolu city and has no jurisdiction outside the city.

It's basically a signature move from Erdogan, who never took responsibility for any of his government's failures basically ever.

This disaster, that resulted in the deaths of 78 innocent people is largely forgotten and isn't talked about anymore in conventional or social media. Life is cheap in muslim majority countries. We chuck it up to the will of allah, say a few prayers and move on.

If Erdogan goes the Xi/Putin route and goes after the corrupt mafia than Turkey has stronger potential than what is currently is doing.
