It may be my personal opinion, but Iran is a big boy. They should not do anything which puts them at a level of Somali pirates. Ditto for the Hoosis. A lot of modern warfare is fought in the mindspace of enemy populations. The world, and especially the West, at the level of the societies, need to wake up to the facr that they are facing proud sovereign nations with huge ancient legacies and heritage. Greatly predating their own civilizations.

The impact of stealing versus destroying is huge. When you steal, it means you can be negotiated with. When you destroy, the enemy has only two options. To either destroy in turn. Or get the fk out.

There is a third. Behave and be reasonable.

Trust me. This is not over. Far from it. This will have far reaching consequences. Ripples that will be felt at similar choke points around the world.

How the US navy deals with this, will be key.

Because otherwise, you can say bye bye to freedom of the waves.

I agree, Doc. These harkats by Houthis are not helping the Iranian cause in any way.

USS Truman wala alag tha, one, that they are a legit target, and 2, great success.. because a super-hornet fell off the deck during evasive maneuvers. What an unbelievable underdog victory over the mightiest NAVY ka mightiest jahaj !

but civvie commercial ships ko gira ke kya mil raha hai apart from the scorn of the rest of the world ? Iran need to rein them in, these mad dogs.

I never said Hoosi tactics are not helping Iran.

I am responding to @Lulldapull 's contention that Iran would have been better served by claiming the ships as spoils of war.

Control over a choke point on commercial shipping is a huge bargaining chip @Sharma Ji

Do not pretend to recognize it in Malacca because it serves our Indian interests but get all ethical here because it serves Iran's.

Bhai 3 super hornets were lost overall no? One fell off during hard turn. Second snapped the arrestor cable and plunged into paani right off the deck and the third was shot down by own defenses a few months prior whilst the Truman was bracketed by hoosi drones and missiles no…..

Truman also lost an E-2 Hawkeye to an errant hoosi manpad and more than likely took a few drone hits which slipped past the defense screen.

It’s been in the dock a few times now for repairs.

The more poignant thing is that Iran hasn’t targeted it yet……it’s only allowed the hoosi to do it with downgraded Iranian weaponry.

If Iran goes after it, the Truman ain’t goin be floating bhai.

Do not pretend to recognize it in Malacca because it serves our Indian interests but get all ethical here because it serves Iran's.

Malacca is a potential choke point in case war with China breaks out, expect the USN to do the heavy lifting there if it ever comes to that, with IN doing logistics wala chaprasi kaam and keeping the effort going from the Andamans.

They've shown a lot of interest in there, refueling stop karte hain udhar unke aircraft, also done some joint exercises in the region.

We don't have rogue militias just lobbing drones and missiles at random cargo vessels lol
