Indians in mid 1910s understood the true value of educationspecially professional courses when British started plying this martial races game for recruting JATT MUSLIM PUNJABIES and SIKHs and Hindu JAATs , Gurjars & discriminationg aganst some other castes on some politicalbasis

and it was almost 100 years ago that Hindu Bhramins or specially Baniya community (mostly money lenders)whose all land holdingss in Punjab & Bengal provinces were given back to criditors for frree by british so that these Gurjars or Jaats or mulim Jatts join British army in WW1

the Baniya community had to Migrate to Cities like Lahore , Karachi , Delhi , Calcutta , Bombay or madras and start doing some kind of Buissness or send there kids for studies to make a better life and within 30 years befor independdence they became a economically powerfull class in big cities and had a presence in almost ever buissness inevery cities barring meat or leather buissnesses

post partition when there were many punjabi families from west punjab and sindh and NWFP and east bengal in India we collectivelly understood only way to make owrselfs strong was to have owr own production and self reliance in every field and it became crystal clear 1962 when USSR looked the other way when china attacked india and in 1965 USA & UK gave all its surplus weapons form Korean War to Pakistan and send its 7th fleet & HMS Eagle carrier battle group to bully India in bay of bengal


@Bagheera0084 indians had been churning out enginners even before independence just google TATA institude in Banglore and Bombay and Rorkee Ingineering college it was all Indian private enterprises that put so much efferot in education of India .... even today so called TATAs and Birlas or even Ambanies to WIPRO to Infosys to almost every EX IIT student who had made big in corporate world on his capacity gives or contributes in the national education mission ..... just look at all colleges or schools or hositals in Pakistan or Bangladesh either they were established by British or some Hindu or sikh charitable trust tell me how many private or non govermntal muslim bodies have contributed ineducational mission of there respective nations


in short quest for excelence thru education is a systamatic sanatni affar frmally funded by Private and middle class indians more with Govt support in setting relevent institutions ....

but Indians went to all corners of the globe and made it big cause they were more capable than the compition than anything else
