India is in the advanced stages of developing a hypersonic cruise missile interceptor, with the design for a hypersonic glide vehicle interceptor nearing completion. These systems will complement India's advanced ballistic missile defense (BMD) system, which includes components like the Advanced Air Defence (AAD), Prithvi Defence Vehicle (PDV), and AD-2.

The hypersonic cruise missile and glide vehicle interceptors are designed to counter high-speed threats and represent a significant advancement in missile defense technology. India has successfully simulated the designs and is now finalizing them. Once operational, India will become the first nation to develop interceptors capable of neutralizing both hypersonic cruise missiles and hypersonic glide vehicles—an extraordinary milestone. Achieving this capability means India will have the ability to intercept virtually any airborne threat.

It is a time to use KALI like weapon to cripple the incoming air threat as the cost-effective solution. Laser is also used as solution. However, Laser has a limitation of continuously focusing on object for some time till it is heated, and meltdown happens. KALI sort of weapon has an advantage of firing it for few nano seconds to burn all electronics of the incoming weapons.

It is for individual to Judge using his discretion in absence of official release on the matter.

However, Kali is a reality. It can be used in war scenario with charging limitation which takes a longer time to charge to release pulses. However, once charged, it can cripple a formation on aircraft in no time.

It is not easy to even down a hypersonic missile with laser as the laser need to be focused on same point of missile for some time. By that time, missile will hit the target.
