Taiwan has shown interest in acquiring India's state-of-the-art D4 anti-drone system, developed by the Defence Research and Developed Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

The move comes in response to a surge in Chinese drone activity near Taiwan's borders and strategic facilities.



Taiwan's interest marks a significant step in strengthening defence ties with India amid growing regional tensions with China.

India's indigenously developed Drone Detect, Deter and Destroy (D4) anti-drone system gained global attention for its effectiveness in neutralizing Turkish-origin drones and loitering munitions during the India-Pakistan conflict, according to a statement by the Indian Defence Research Wing (IDRW).

The D4 system demonstrated its prowess in Operation Sindoor, where it successfully jammed and neutralized Pakistani drone swarms, including Turkish-supplied Bayraktar TB2 drones.

The system employs both “soft kill” methods (electronic jamming, GPS spoofing) and “hard kill” methods (laser-based directed energy weapons) to neutralise enemy drones.

A DRDO official confirmed that Taiwan's request reflects the D4 system's growing reputation as a battle-proven solution.

A successful deal with Taiwan could pave the way for deeper defence cooperation, potentially including joint development of advanced counter-drone technologies. Furthermore, with China's aggressive posturing in the Indo-Pacific, India's strategic outreach to Taiwan could serve as a critical counterweight, reshaping regional security dynamics.

Now that the 12-day war is over (till its not), slowly videos and photos of the damage will emerge from both sides.

It may sound cynical, but the actual death count does not count for much in such wars. Limited wars with specific targeted objectives. Unlike the war Russia and Ukraine are fighting ... and even there they have not even close to gone mongol on each others' populations yet. Aa in mass city destruction.

The actual targets for both sides have been infrastructure and morale.

This war has been a long time coming. And its had a huge impact. Opened many eyes. And been a trial by fire and huge reality check for necessary stock taking and realignment fir the two combatants.

The result of the war was sub optimal because neither combatant fully achieved their prime objective. Though landed some pretty hefty blows.

Of course neither side went into this war realistically believing that they could kill the other. Either completely or totally as a military threat, regionally.

It was at the root of it all a war of degradation and decapitation.

Each war after this will exponentially climb the escalation ladder.

D4 is a great system. Taiwan should buy it along with Bhargavastra as a counter to low cost drone threat. Integrate all Taiwan's air defense with Akash Teer. But MRSAM and LRSAM as well. No Chinese plane can escape. Buy Brahmos, protect them well and shoot at floating duck Chinese warship. What we did here to Chinese junk weapons, Taiwan can do there. Build a massive capability to hit Beijing and Shanghai. China will fall in line. Philippines are over joyous to watching first Brahmos use in real war so as Armenians. Armanians were saying that now all their doubts about performance of Indian weapons have gone. They can counter anything Azerbaijan has with Indian weapons. Now, everybody is rushing to buy Indian weapons.

India is developing 300 k.m. Range Pinaka. Even Taiwan can target Chinese costal installations with blanket fire of guided Pinaka and disseminate their coastal military installations.
