After Pakistans Operation Swift Retort in 2019, the Indian government and media went into a frenzy, claiming they had shot down a Pakistan Air Force F-16. However, that claim couldn’t be further from the truth—here’s why.
#1. No wreckage. For starters, there was no wreckage found of the F-16 that India claims to have downed. Nor there was any pilot found. This is in stark contrast to Pakistan's downing of the MiG-21, where the wreckage was found and pilot was taken in custody.
#2. All of the MiG-21s' missiles were intact. India claimed Abhinandan downed an F-16 with an R-73 air-to-air missile, but all missiles (×2 R-73 & ×2 R-77) were found intact in the MiG-21 wreckage—proving none were fired, let alone hitting a target and achieving a kill.

#3. USAs count of PAFs F-16s revealed none missing A U.S. count of Pakistan’s F-16 jets revealed none to be missing, the U.S. officials told Foreign Policy, falsifying India’s position that its air force shot down a Pakistan Air Force jet.

#4 Wrongful Evidence Presented - a Taiwanese missile. Indian Air Force officials showed a section of an Amraam missile, that they claimed to be fired by Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16s.However, the Missiles contract number FA867505C0070 was that of an AIM120C sold to Taiwan

To top it off, its only confirmed kill was its own Mi-17 helicopter. Hence, it makes sense for India and its armed forces to come up with a ridiculous claim of shooting down PAFs and then frontlime fighters in a rather pathetic attempt of masking its own glaring failures.
To summarise, the Indians have no wreckage to show (the only "evidence" presented was a Taiwanese AIM120C), no capturedor dead pilot, No video/visual/sattelite imagery and all neutral/third party observers back Pakistans position of no F-16s shot down.
