Russia had never recovered its gender imbalance after the second world war killoff.

And now the Ukraine war (and the Georgian and Chechen before that) have skewed the ratio even further.

Empires die when their men die in war.

Or leave for foreign lands.

The ones which do not die and in fact grow to humungous size are the ones who never war.
