It is not difficult to promote secularism in Pakistan. Just frog march the military and let the civilian leadership handle the nuclear deterrants. With military out of the picture , religious fanatics will die out without fuel. Pakistan has been run by basically familes in rotation since ZA Bhutto died. Punjab is already a family property of the Sharif brothers. Imran Khan has been indeed jailed by a notorious family law.

Pakistanis typically are very secular minded in comparison to other nations. Yes there's a huge salafi chunk like the Iqbal guy who was here yesterday but I see secularism to be possible here.

The American diaspora is very different, except in some big cities like NY. We American Pakistanis make more money than the average American white, and that is also much higher than the American national average. Usually, the most educated and upper-echelon Pakistanis come to live in the USA.

Iqbal bhai religion is about power. About influence and control over others. The ones yous seen in them countries who were rich and mazhabi are businessmen. It’s a front to join the cult and socialize. People go to mosques not to pray or become mazhabi……they go there to make money or take money…..

It's good to have a sane diaspora group like the one in America. It gives me some hope. After seeing diaspora groups from other countries they were even more regressive than actual Pakistanis.

People need something to keep them civil. Many people in Pakistan would be rapist and would commit adult with 100 kuriyan but the fear of hell fire and the life after death makes them fear of God and protect them from these sins. The same goes with other crimes.

Mazhab is a need for many just like food. Ab too much mazhab can be dangerous for health just like too much honey in a glass of milk
