Have you seen the doco on thugs?

These thugs were marathi/ rajasthani dalits.

Abhee bhee hain India main sharma! It’s a cult of thieves, killers and deceivers.
Yes, there's a name for these guys, skips me atm

modus operandi hai that they oil up real good so that they can slip away if someone tries to grab em, and keep machetes handy to quickly deal with any threat, not afraid to kill.. dangerous gypsies, khatarnaak log hain, pols bhi ghabra jaati hai !

You can find the exact equivalent of these Romas in India. They are Banjaras. For centuries they have remained the same. No change at all. They dislike settling. It is antithetical to their nomadic philosophy of detachment from land.

The most plausible theory is that these groups, who are sort of skilled at handicrafts (pottery, tool making, swordsmithy etc) were considered useful by invading armies, and they moved along with them. Some groups moved with retreating Turkish and Persian armies and reached Anatolia, from where they further moved northwest into Bulgaria, Romania and Eastern Europe.

and if you dare fight, they dont shy away from knifing you.. bad scene.
