Oh yeah PMC's are now the way to go for smaller ops or security or literally black ops. All ex SF's guys on good bhatta and they get the job done in limited engagements. Wagner got bled out in Ukraine and Pigroshin killed by Imam Putin for dissent. Wagner did well in Syria too, until Assad sahb just refused to fight and dropped the ball.Wagner is a Russians ka shady sa secretive group, but I suppose they're all that way tbf.
At the other place I had a blackwater and mercs ka thread. Eric Prince's blackwater/academi got in some srs trouble in Iraq nissour square, was a big deal but everyone got away iirc.
I've read 2 books on them, contrasting narratives waali, ek by Prince himself 'civilian warriors'.. the other one by Jeremy Scahill 'rise of blackwater..' something, both worth a read for a balanced perspective.
Pentagon keeps them on a bit of a tight leash, all US SF guys, green berets, SEALs, sabse lowest are army Rangers, shock troops, but not SF level trained... not sure about other countries' troops, maybe some SAS/SBS etc guys too.
Apartheid era RSA SADF and Rhodesian/Zimbabwe SAS were also involved with a merc corporation called Executive Outcomes, real movie badass level xhit they got up to.
Youtube pe kaafi hain inki docs, fascinating stuff, I'll post some in a bit.
We had thousands of Blackwater/ Titan guys operating in our KPK under the CIA command for a long time coordinating the old predator drone strikes in FATA and AF-Pak border.
PMC game has quieted down over the years after US exit from Af-Pak.
Many US/ EU PMCs Iran has killed operating out of Erbil in missile strikes on their compounds.
