Israelis have suffered persecution throughout history. that makes me feel somewhat close to them. I don't hate them. Of course I prefer them over Iran or any other county in this region. Perhaps Pakistan should recognise them? We already are helping them secretly. It should be more open.

We should be neutral against them. Neither support them nor oppose them. We should stay out of the way if they try to knock Iran's nuclear facilities.

Lebanese behavior with subcontinent folks is deplorable. I've seen it myself.

Ditto here.

The Lebanese consider themselves like the educated elite of the Middle East. Even more elite than, say the Turkish folks who are themselves a part of the EU. Personal experience when talking to Lebanese about Gulfies, Saudis and the like.

I hardly look South Asian (ambiguous optics) but one older Lebanese guy told me not to mention my South Asian ethnicity among his Lebanese friends at a gathering. I blamed the guy's lack of 'real' education and of course - tact. Guess I should've made an excuse to leave.

There is a lot of hate between different countries and ethnicities in the Middle East - sometimes even more so, than among different types of South Asians it'd seem...so no need to feel particularly bad. We aren't the only targets of hate/derision and no need to feel special. You can always hate these people back, no issue.

The thing to consider is - whether they treat educated middle class Pakistanis or Bangladeshis any worse than we get treated by our own South Asian rich.

This is the price to pay when you cross borders and go overseas (especially to the MENA region, who have met only poor South Asians as household help), no experience is guaranteed to be positive, because MENA (especially Gulf) people (being culturally obtuse) sometimes lack tact and positivity and can only identify South Asian people as "miskeen". Except people in certain francophone MENA countries who haven't met many South Asians.

My experience in Istanbul airport recently was partially (20%) less than positive (especially when I saw $28 being charged for a Big Mac), Turkish folks may be too sick of being a tourist spot (and foreigners themselves, especially immigrants from different countries being there illegally), and I don't blame them for that feeling.

Of course you have stupid people everywhere and cannot really blame all Turks for a few having less than positive behavior - people can have bad days, women can have 'bad hair' days. You have to get away to the paths less traveled in that country and Turks are probably (largely) the most educated and considerate folks in that region. Just my experience. @LegionnairE I don't know if you'll agree.

I have mentioned the stories about South Asian Hajis going to Saudi in the early part of the 20th century before Saud was planted as a US/British plant in that country - when Turks were ousted by the Brits - before the discovery of petroleum.

People in that country were so poor that Hajis used to take multiple sacks of rice from the subcontinent to feed these people, which was their only source of income for the year.

Sorry for this slightly off-topic rant, my apologies.
