Most Indian users on the street have no interest in playing anti-Chinese game. They want a reliable product which is economical.

Neither do Indian businesses who sell electronic products.

Most of the electronic items assembled in India (including Indian-branded cellphones like Micromax, Lava and Karbonn) all use economical Chinese parts and assemblies. They have no local alternative to source from. I understand even the plastic casings are imported from China.

Indian smartphone brands together enjoyed less than 1 per cent share in the January to March quarter 2023 as compared to 45 per cent when they were at their peak in 2013 and 2014. It is what it is.

The top ten cellphone brands by market share in India are mostly Chinese ones. Motorola Mobility is owned by Lenovo, which is a Chinese company. Poco by Xiaomi is a Chinese brand - as is iQOO (subsidiary of Vivo).

So eight out of ten top cellphones sold in India are Chinese made. One can say Samsung and Apple parts are also largely sourced in China, though some Apple and Samsung phone products are being assembled in India from imported Chinese parts. @Jiangnan I hope I am correct.

  1. Vivo
  2. Xiaomi
  3. Samsung
  4. Realme
  5. OPPO
  6. Apple
  7. Motorola
  8. Poco
  9. OnePlus
  10. iQOO
India's anti China work is selective. They prohibit some irrelevant things. But open up to China's key technologies.

When Lenovo builds AI servers in India. India will not worry about this Chinese company affecting India's security and infringing on India's sovereignty.

When the same is banned from source of entry point, how can people use it? I meet hundreds of people and I have not seen a single person using TIk Tok.

Tik Tok is not used by people you and I would normally meet. The target audience is far younger, mostly under fifteen.

Question is not who wants to use it. Question is whether it is available for use or not. It is not available directly. I do not know whether it can be used indirectly. Evenif, I want, i will not be able to use it.
