Our bureaucracy are backward and uneducated. What Pakistan needs is what Japan did during the Meiji Restoration, to promote industrialization and economic prosperity.

Answering your previous question, What would Pakistan gain from trading with India, lol? What would India buy from us? Agricultural goods and Cement?
Sure the Pakistani economy may improve, but India would ask Pakistan to buy Indian products, which many Pakistanis would reject.

Let us let the business people in Pakistan decide what is profitable for them. We are largely an import economy anyway. Our export is nothing compared to imports from any country. Ideology should not interfere with business, which is the backbone of the economy.

I agree our philosophy should be pragmatic or utilitarian. But India will ask something in return if we sell products to India.

Guys maybe I should have started a new thread instead of reviving this one, but why can't we boost trade between D-8 economies. The top 5 Islamic economies will do fine trading between themselves. Even without involving India, I'd think.

What Pakistanis do or don't do is their business, but we in Bangladesh have a not so good precedent in trading with India for 50 years. They will only export and not import anything. They (Indian customs) stop imports from Bangladesh on the flimsy excuse of "dumping" (non-tariff barrier or NTB), which when asked, they cannot prove. They also say that we re-label Chinese goods and try to export these to India. Just the general Indian trading mentality is non-conducive to open exports to India, unlike the trading Bangladesh does with friendly D-8 countries like Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia and even Pakistan.

For long-standing strategic and economic benefit, we in the D-8 should help each other's economies. I do realize that protecting one's own economy comes first, but the attitude of Indian customs (their govt.) has no parallel and cannot be explained by any logic.

We have given up trying to export goods to India. Bangladeshi Business-people generally are of the impression that Indian businesses want something for nothing. Otherwise "no deal".

Well said. I am 100% in agreement with you. Indian exploitative trade policy will bankrupt Pakistan as evidenced from India-Bangladesh trade relation.
