Despite this the Muslims wouldn't have accepted them, and these Brahmins developed some cock and bull story of having contributed to the Islamic cause to gain acceptance. Not the first time Indians (esp of the region now in Pakistan) displayed wannabe behaviour.

I been to jumma raat/thursday qawwalis in Nizamuddin, Dilli too.. I think it is sufi/shia tradition.. you walk past a bunch of marble graves to get to the music area.. mast scene, good music.. lots of hymns to Ali .. mera ye Ali,mera vo Ali .. Ali Ali .. constant theme..
