A fake mechanical issue is always good for insurance claims and covers up qualitative and organizational failures. Russians will come after them anyway for deliberately damaging the brand goodwill. The Russian and Belarusian Air Forces have also experienced multiple crash incidents with YAK-130. Are the Russian and Belarusian Air Forces pilots also incompetent?

Most military aircraft types have crashed, and Russian—the Belarussian fleet is much larger in size. Now, why doesn't BAF still buy American / European fighters so that they can safely blame their pilots? Some BD fake defense sites claiming Eurofighters for almost 7 years.

Bangladesh cannot afford Western jet fighters because our defense budget is just 1% of our GDP. We have to rely on cheap Chinese and Russian jets in the foreseeable future.

Or government officials can not receive commissions with Western companies, which they can easily get with either Russian Rosboron or Chinese Chengdu. I‘m sure if they can get an export credit line with Boeing, the same can be done with Lockhead-Martin.

Bangladesh is one of the most countries in the world. I was just pointing out that some Western countries are also corrupt.
I know that during the Khaleda Zia government, there was a plan to purchase Western jets, and they, therefore, acquired Aero L-39 jet trainers, which could simulate an F-16-type cockpit experience. BAF afterwords changer their plan and decided to acquire Russian jets and, thus, purchased these YAK-130 trainers.

The family of Squadron Leader Asim Jawad, who tragically lost his life in a training jet crash, visited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence, Gono Bhaban, yesterday evening.

Jawad's father, Dr Md Aman Ullah, mother Nilufar Akhter, widow Rifat Antora, and their two children, Ayeeza and Ayaaz, were in attendance during the emotional meeting.

The PM's Deputy Press Secretary, KM Shakhawat Moon, said the family spent some time with Hasina, during which Nilufar Akhter, overcome with grief, burst into tears upon embracing the premier.

Hasina then provided comfort to her and other family members.

The PM expressed her profound grief at Jawwad's untimely death and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family. She also inquired about their well-being during this difficult time.

Jawwad was killed on May 9 when a trainer jet of Bangladesh Air Force crashed into the Karnaphuli River near Patenga, Chattogram.​

The government has appointed Air Vice Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan as the new chief of Bangladesh Air Force by elevating him to the rank of Air Marshal.

Air Vice Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, who will succeed Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, will take over as the new BAF chief on June 11, 2024 for three years, according to a notification issued by the defence ministry on Sunday.

Air Vice Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan will be promoted to Air Marshal rank with effect from June 11, 2024 afternoon.

Outgoing chief of air staff Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan will go on retirement on June 11, 2024, said another notification issued by the defence ministry on Sunday.

Shaikh Abdul Hannan took charge as the air chief on June 12, 2021.​
 
The outgoing air chief, Air Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, has renamed the airbase in Tangail as Bir Uttam Sultan Mahmud to honor him for his contribution to our independence and to modernization of Bangladesh Air Force.


 

Pacific Air Forces hosts Airman-to-Airman Talks with Bangladesh Air Force

Pacific Air Forces' leaders and subject matter experts, alongside the Oregon National Guard State Partnership Team, hosted their counterparts from the Bangladesh Air Force at the PACAF headquarters on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii May 14 – 17, 2024 for an Airman-to-Airman Talk engagement. The event was co-chaired by U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Erich C. Novak, PACAF mobilization assistant to the commander, and BAF Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Kamrul Islam, assistant chief of Air Staff (Plans).

This A2AT continued to enhance the U.S. and Bangladesh partnership by revisiting many previous discussions from past bilateral talks, and opened with words from the PACAF host.

"It requires a lot of work up-front and behind the scenes to execute these Talks and I appreciate everyone who had a hand in making this event a reality," said Novak. "We appreciate the Bangladesh Air Force for your willingness to expand our collaborative efforts and strengthen the partnership between our two great air forces."

During the A2AT, the attending personnel discussed Enlisted and Officer Career Progression, the Inter-Pacific Air Forces Academy, Accident Investigation processes, and international safety sharing to name a few topics.

A notable discussion point during the talks was exercise participation. PACAF and BAF personnel discussed building a long-term plan for COPE SOUTH which included goals such as improving interoperability for disaster response and supporting the Bangladesh Armed Forces' long-term modernization efforts.

"One of the big things we are also trying to accomplish this iteration is finalizing the concept of operations for Bangladesh to host PACIFIC ANGEL in 2025," said Maj. Christopher Smith, PACAF country directory to Bangladesh. "As Maj. Gen. Novak has highlighted in the past, Bangladesh is a leader in real-world HADR missions and an ideal partner to work with and learn from."

PACIFIC ANGEL is a joint and combined humanitarian assistance operation demonstrating PACAF's commitment to the Indo-Pacific region and our allies. It further focuses on building humanitarian assistance and disaster response capability through cooperation between U.S. and host nation militaries, civilian medical and engineering personnel and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

"As Airmen, we all have a shared responsibility to enhance regional peace, security, and stability," said Novak. "Everyone who attended clearly understands this need, and I greatly appreciate the BAF's commitment to moving our partnership forward."

The next iteration of the PACAF-BAF A2AT is slated for 2025 in Oregon hosted by the State Partnership Team.​
 

Bangladeshi C-130J fleet reaches full strength with Marshall delivering last five aircraft

Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group has delivered the last of five C-130J Super Hercules aircraft to Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), marking a key milestone in the nation's long-term investment in sovereign airlift capacity.

Representatives from the Bangladesh High Commission in London and the BAF joined the Marshall team at the company's headquarters in Cambridge on Monday to formally celebrate the handover of the final aircraft.

Marshall's multi-million pound programme to upgrade and enhance the BAF C-130J fleet originated in 2018 and 2019, following the acquisition of the aircraft from the UK Ministry of Defence, Bangladesh High Commission in the UK, said in a statement today.

"I am delighted to be here to preside over a proud moment for the entire Bangladesh Air Force, as we mark the culmination of a multi-year investment into our fleets towards realisation of Forces Goal 2030 as envisioned by her excellency Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," said Saida Muna Tasneem, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the UK and Ireland.

"The work performed here in Cambridge will directly support us in fulfilling our operational commitments for decades to come, and I would like to thank the Marshall team for their expertise and commitment."

"The BAF-Marshall relationship perfectly exemplifies the collaborative spirit and commitment to shared interests that underpin the growing UK-Bangladesh defence relationship."

While all five aircraft are now in active service with the BAF, Marshall is scheduled to deliver further modifications in near future.

Marshall will also continue to support the BAF with a range of technical services including global engineering support, supply chain and logistics management, spare parts procurement and provision of training.

"It has been a privilege to partner with the Bangladesh Air Force over the last six years as they have created a world-leading tactical airlift capability," said Chris Dare, Marshall's Director of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Services and Solutions.

"Fielding these five C-130J Super Hercules aircraft with a range of sophisticated upgrades will ensure the BAF's mission-readiness to support UN peace-keeping and humanitarian missions around the world, and this is something we are proud to have contributed to."​
 

Bangladesh receives first C-130-configurable AeroMedical Evacuation System
Bangladesh recently received its fifth and final C-130 after being upgraded by Marshall, which has now delivered the new aeromedical capability.

Aerospace maintenance and systems provider Marshall has delivered of the first AeroMedical Evacuation System (AMES) to the Bangladesh Air Force, providing the service with a new humanitarian assistance, disaster relief (HADR) capability.

In a 3 July 2024, release, Marshall stated that the AMES system was designed, engineered, tested and assembled in-house as part of the company's Adaptable Role-fit Capability (ARC) family of palletised products, providing medium and high dependency patients with advanced medical care during airlift transport.

Developed alongside medical experts and fleet operators, AMES can be installed onto or removed from an aircraft in a matter of hours without any permanent modifications, Marshall said.

The AMES system was created to be used interchangeably on the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules or other tactical airlifters compatible with 463L pallets and is reconfigurable for specific medical needs.

The Bangladesh Air Force also recently took delivery of its fifth and final C-130J Super Hercules, the company announced in June. All five aircraft were upgraded and prepared by Marshall and likely primarly for use in peacekeeping and HADR missions.

The project began in 2018 with the acquisition of the aircraft from the UK Ministry of Defence. The programme's major components included decommissioning the aircraft from their previous roles in the UK Royal Air Force, upgrading avionics, and enhancing the aircraft's capabilities for passenger transport and survival operations.

Marshall's ARC family

An earlier medical evacuation system, co-developed by Marshall and Nodin Aviation, was designed to convert a Scandinavian Airlines Boeing 737-700 commercial airliner into an airborne hospital. The system has seen use in response to recent high-profile incidents, including evacuating Norway's King Harald V from Malaysia on 3 March 2024 and evacuating injured Ukrainian soldiers in 2022, Marshall stated.

Other products within Marshall's ARC family include ARC radar, a modular sensor suite that allows operators of tactical transport aircraft to temporarily outfit an aircraft for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.​
