The US Global Peacekeeping Operations Initiative and the Office of Defence Cooperation at the US Embassy in Dhaka have handed over airfield support equipment, including telescopic forklifts and an aircraft tow tractor to Bangladesh Air Force's 212 Maintenance Unit.

The US embassy in Dhaka shared this information on its Facebook page yesterday.

It said Bangladesh Air Force contributes airlift capabilities to multiple UN peacekeeping missions across the globe, providing tactical airlift and airfield services.

In recent years, Bangladesh Air Force has also supported disaster response efforts in other friendly countries through its strategic and tactical airlift capabilities, often using its C-130 fleet.

US and Bangladesh Air Force cooperation on airlift also includes the conduct of Exercise Cope South where C-130 aircraft from both nations practice important skills including formation flying, airdrops, maintenance, and airfield operations, the statement said.

"Continued cooperation between the Global Peacekeeping Operations Initiative, Pacific Air Forces, and the Bangladesh Air Force enhances peacekeeping, disaster response, and airlift readiness. This US-Bangladesh collaboration underlines our mutual dedication to promoting global peace and ensuring rapid disaster response, contributing to a safer world for all."

BAF needs to step up its game as a major Airforce contributor for global UN peacekeeping missions.

Skills upkeep needs to be kept up - even on UN logistics missions. Benchmarking on this is invaluable.

I totally agree with you. Right now, BAF sends helicopters and transport planes only. They need to start sending aircrafts. This will definitely increase their budget as the UN will put pressure on the government to raise BAF's budget.

JF-17 is good but to be frank with you, we need J-10 to deal with IAF's SU-30 and RAFALE. And also, China can be used as a counterweight to India. But can we use Pakistan as a counterweight to India? Does Pakistan have the military muscle to help Bangladesh during a war with India?

In what could be a worrying point for India, a secret air force deal has been revealed between India’s two neighbours Pakistan and Bangladesh. According to reports, a secret meeting was held between Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) during April 15 to 19, 2025, which got leaked. Following this, Indian intelligence agency is on alert about this.

What information was leaked?

An important conversation between the Pakistani Air Force Chief and top officials of the Bangladesh Armed Forces was intercepted which revealed that the officials of the two countries discussed the joint development of drone swarming and automatic weapons, which are considered part of modern warfare. Apart from this, both the countries are also expanding the scope of partnership in the fields of communication and cyber warfare.

Is Pakistan preparing to share drone warfare technology with Bangladesh?

According to a News18 report, Pakistan will share drone warfare technology with Bangladesh. Apart from this, both the countries are also preparing to build a tactical air data link system together. This is an encrypted communication channel, which gives real-time target information to military aircraft, ships and ground security forces. It is used for ground-to-air and air-to-air operations.

Pakistan is transferring technology to Dhaka

Pakistan, which has built up its drone warfare capabilities with the help of China, is believed to be transferring technology to Dhaka. The two countries have also held talks on anti-drone technology and cyber security systems. Pakistan has offered anti-malware protocols and offensive cyber training modules.

According to the report, the removal of Bangladesh President Shahabuddin was discussed in this meeting. There is a discussion on appointing a person who supports the Pakistani army as the President in his place. Many such documents have been found by intelligence agencies, which point towards increasing reconnaissance and satellite based ISR capabilities. However, China’s help in this cannot be ruled out.
