cosco cricket balls ?

aaj kal bhot scene ho gaya hai but, doc, even gali mohalla cricket get these sponsorships.. under lights at randomtrack and field stadiums pe tournaments bhi hote hain

repurposed kar dete stadiums to kinda accommodate

relatively recent phenomenon, good fun

but cricket, end of the day is a 'for the masses' wala khel, aaj kal kids into skateboarding and etc.. urban middil class types, cricket se koi lena dena nahi hai.. they dont even know much about Kohli etc... very strange

at least the latest generation in my family, cousins ke bacchey etc

the other day I'm telling my bhanja ki how Jolly uncle played club cricket with Jeff Dujon in Miami.. ans he's just staring right through me, koi idea nahi, na interest.. cool story bro kar ke chala gaya to his playstation.. I felt beizzati

Ya galli cricket is big. Dunno what the name of the ball is. Let me look for a image.

in pak they play tape ball cricket, or used to.

cosco cricket tennis balls are what we do here, hamesha se hai.. google cosco cricket balls.. still all the rage, apparently.
Ye walla. Red color mein.

Isko Bombay rubber ball bolte hain. Its got great weight and carry and is hard (thick rubber) and has just the right bounce.

Pace waalon se lagti bhi solid hai.

nice, new to me but sahi hai..

normal tennis ball me mazaa nahi aata

proper cricket ball se khelna nahi aata... but a big part is actually the surface, you need a proper pitch for real cricket.

at an old school I went to, they actually got a curator to make a genuine pitch, it was off limits to everyone.. allowed hi nahi tha waha paer rakhna.. killed football

but they dig deep, and put different layers of soil and rocks etc before the top layer.. real cricket ka toh scene hi alag hai. I've dicked around at some nets at what used to be called the Feroze Shah Kotla maidan, now renamed to Arun 'chodu' Jaitley stadium.

Hey guys,

If you have played cricket, was it with real ball (requiring pads, gloves, etc) or with tennis ball or the rubber ball?

@Sharma Ji @Vsdoc @Paitoo @Guru Dutt @Krishna with Flute @Dogun18 @Mrloveday @Cryptonian @Mainerik @Bilal9 @Lulldapull
Played all types.
In Delhi our school had lot of space, including a full sized ground where we could play with pads, helmet, guards and stuff. It's actually very annoying. Limits your movement, sight, everything. In our apartment it was tennis ball cricket.
Then in Bombay it was rubber ball cricket like doc said. Occasionally we would rent out space in Oval Maidan / Azad Maidan near Churchgate to play the real stuff. Wasn't a lot of fun. There are so many groups playing at one time, their ball could hit you while fielding. Crazy stuff. Typical Bombay 'adjust madi' reality.

This ball was a lot of fun. Hitting sixes was very easy. Cheap also. But the bounce was high, which meant that length deliveries would go over the batsman's head. You had to constantly over pitch the ball. I started bowling a lot of yorkers because of this. Short pitch deliveries were out of the question.

In karachi paitoo, when wes were kids almost 40 odd years ago now......We'd take a tennis ball, and get the electrical tape. Wrap up dat tennis ball extremely tight until the tape was gone! and seal the end with fukkin super glue!

It was the best street cricket ball you could think off.

Good ol memories........
