G   The Americas' Affairs
Short Summary: Golti invasion of USA
Conquered usa my azz

I don't know if just migrating somewhere as H1B temporary workers with family qualifies as conquering that place.

You and family are still at the mercy (in many ways) for acceptance by the local majority populace and culture and they can reject you culturally (as happened in Canada as we have seen). Of course one can be shameless and stay (if one has no place else to go). From what I have seen, the newer immigrants are subject to rejection because they fail to adapt to local culture (assimilate) and become dwellers in 'cultural ghettos', sticking to their own culture. This is the fate of many H1Bs.

I don't know what a daalkhor is - if you can explain for non-Indians.

I only know about the names I am called - such as lungi, chaddi etc.
its a bit of a derogatory term I picked up on the old OG Pk forum when it was being hurled at us gangouse..

means non-meat eater, a veggie, basically

lungi = bangla person, also kida rude lmao

chaddi = rss bhakt, also used disparagingly

🤣

'jholadhaari' is another once, though sadly, not as common in usage.. it means commie students, generally from, JNU or some such heavily left leaning universities where those students often have a 'jhola' bag

lol

Jholas were quite in vogue for Bengali commies of all stripes, artists, philosophy students some of whom I'm sure went JNU.

But they were all the rage in Kolkata University circles about two decades ago even.

The fall of the Soviet Union was the death knell of the Jholadharies who then traded the Jholas for laptop bags and IT Backoffice careers around Newtown in Kolkata. Newtown is now full of IT Backoffice workplaces with some interesting architecture. The trend of putting alphabet cladding on buildings actually started in Dhaka some years ago.

You beat me to it. Aapne mere mooh ki baat chheen lii. I was about to ask the question whether jholas were still in vogue. Why, member Shantanu_Left of original PDF had pointed out that communists nowadays wore jeans and carried mobile phones. So I think jholas trend lasted till end of 1990s.

@Sharma Ji @Vsdoc @Paitoo @Guru Dutt @Krishna with Flute

Shantanu was a Pakistani napak.

I could smell him from a mile away.

He knew I had his number.

Finally just disappeared. To his original ID in all probability.
