Exactly, we had things going well with the Americans, we didn't have to screw it up the way we did, in my opinion we should've assisted the Americans, they didn't ask us for much eitherPakistan can learn a lot from China, which is the USA's largest trading partner despite all the saber rattlings.
Historically, Pakistan was the closest US ally in South Asia until our Pak establishment started a double game with the religious extremists. We had to support the secular Afghan government following the Soviet withdrawal, but we were too greedy. It is our establishment's double game that has ruined our country.
The Kashmir issue could have been handled secularly to draw broader international support. Why do we always have to invoke religion to solve territorial disputes? Why is there no secular independence movement?
