Believe me, we do not have any interest in Bangladesh and most of Indians do not know in which side of India Bangladesh it. Bangladesh is in highlight in Indian media because of what happened to Hindus in Bangladesh. We wish that they are safeguard by Indian government in by settling them near Indian border with a sovereign right to handle their affairs. That is the only concern we have. With the development what we have seen in BD, we can see in which direction does BD is heading and what will be its future.
Bangladesh is the largest market for India in South Asia. We inject $30-40 billion into poor Indian economy. On the other hand, India has minuscule contribution($1.5 billion) to Bangladesh's economy. It is India not Bangladesh which is irrelevant in our bilateral relation. If we cancel the transit deal you will lose the safest route to transport military/economic merchandize to your North-East region. The transit fee was calculated to be Tk. 1058 but Hasina gave transit to India at Tk. 192. You are getting almost free transit from Bangladesh. We have dismantled ULFA which is the main reason your North-East is stable now. Without Bangladesh's support you cannot even maintain your territorial integrity.

There would not be a Bangladesh today if it wasn't for India.

Let us always start with the fundamentals.

You will notice I rarely comment on Bangladeshi threads.

Unlike Sri Lanka, who pulled away from the brink (different national psyche), we are looking at potentially a second basket case now on our other flank.

Cheers, Doc

Yeah, that's why your superpower country was begging to Bangladesh for help to dismantle ULFA.

This basket case is the largest export market for India in South Asia. Bangladesh is the largest regional contributor to your poor economy.

There would not be any North-East if Bangladesh did not get independence from Pakistan.
