Yeah, that's why your superpower country was begging to Bangladesh for help to dismantle ULFA.
Like I said, India would have taken care of it regardless of who is in power in BD.

You keep making the mistake of greatly overestimating your worth to India, who, for their part have been very magnanimous in their dealing with your country/leadership.

I do not expect that to change much even now in this post Hasina era.

The ball is in BD's court, whatever play you make will be dealt with appropriately and reciprocated, hand of friendship, or a belligerent state.

Remember, India have had traditionally good (brotherly even) relations with Iran (souring a bit now because Gaza war, and our proximity and dealing with the Jews). Remember, India IGNORED US threats and continued to do oil trade with them, even devised an alternate payment stream to bypass western financial route sanctions.

and growing ties with the Saudis, and Emiratis, and the Russians, and the US led west. We still have a working relationship and trade with China.

Indian planners are pragmatic, our policy in the neighborhood has never been one of belligerence, even wrt Pak, we always counterpunched, never instigated hostilities.

Also, with these ultra-nationalist cowboys running things, there has been a shift.. terrorists, Islamic ones, or Khalistani ones, or of any other flavor are being hunted down..

in Pakistan
in Canada
in Australia
in the USA

you underestimate India at your own peril, your leaders, however, I'm sure they know the score.

Please explain this bizzare assertion.
Pakistan would have created 20 ULFAs in North East if Bangladesh did not get independence from Pakistan in 1971. Those who are knowledgeable on the issue know the kind of situation Pakistan created in North East before the independence of Bangladesh. You should be grateful to Bangladesh because its independence made sure the territorial integrity of India.

We would have gotten independence from Pakistan even if India did not help us in 1971. The whole population of East Pakistan revolted against the Pakistan government and such a movement backed by people could not have failed. Indian help just accelerated our victory that's all.

That's why you aided insurgency in Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tract. Shanti Bahini was your creation and it was a belligerent move by the Indian policymakers. Do your homework first before you shoot your mouth off about Indo-Bangla relation.

Pakistan tried its best with Khalistan. Do you know what we did to them?

Pakistan tried its best with Kashmir. Do you know what we did to them?

You seem to be young. Ask your parents and grandparents what Pakistan did to your women before we stepped in.

Your nation has selective Islamic hued mass amnesia when it comes to Hindu India.

I saw it at your Bangabandhu Airport in full splendor. In the stylised history of the creation of Bangladesh.

Talk about ostrichised revisionism through the lens of national shame, brutalized ego and religion.

Your revolt (trained and funded by India) counted for squat in the face of an occupying brutalizing army.

Just as your present day kindergarten student revolt would have counted for squat without your army's tacit approval and refusal to step in.

Stop dreaming and smell the coffee.

Bangladesh is the largest market for India in South Asia. We inject $30-40 billion into poor Indian economy. On the other hand, India has minuscule contribution($1.5 billion) to Bangladesh's economy. It is India not Bangladesh which is irrelevant in our bilateral relation. If we cancel the transit deal you will lose the safest route to transport military/economic merchandize to your North-East region. The transit fee was calculated to be Tk. 1058 but Hasina gave transit to India at Tk. 192. You are getting almost free transit from Bangladesh. We have dismantled ULFA which is the main reason your North-East is stable now. Without Bangladesh's support you cannot even maintain your territorial integrity.
Ofcourse 30 Bn USD is a good number but it is less than 4 % of India's export. Substitution of these goods will cost BD a lot and there will be a situation like Pakistan. They stopped some import from India and took it from other countries. Those countries buy the things from India and exports to Pakistan and Pakistan gets the same goods at much higher price. That is scenario No 1.

In Scenario 2, if India in retaliation reduces Ganga water, you can imagine the consequences. It is a give and take relationship in which India gives more and receives less.
