This is the same issue as those anti US protests in Okinawa. Japanese are the ‘dhimmi’ of the US. Same same with South Korea, Taiwan, Singhapura/ Malaysia/ Indonesia/ Brunei/ Philippines. On a personal level the Japanese don’t like any foreigners, but on a gubment level (official policy) it’s a different story.
