Fazlur Rehman claims establishment responsible for ‘rigging’

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has pinned the responsibility for the alleged rigging in the February 8 general elections on the establishment.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, he said: “If they think they haven’t rigged the polls, then their May 9 narrative has been buried and the people voted for traitors.”

When asked if he foresaw another general election this year, the Maulana said there was no point in holding polls if the establishment remained involved in the process.

PML-N, PPP to extend alliance for govt formation in Balochistan: Dar

Former finance minister Ishaq Dar has said the PML-N and PPP will extend their alliance for the election of the chief minister, speaker and deputy speaker in Balochistan.

“All our allies, who are supporting us will also be included in the alliance […] our effort will be to take everyone together,” he said in a media talk in Islamabad.

Dar reiterated that the PPP and PML-N has decided to come together for the Balochistan Assembly, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

SIC did not even try to convince me to not vote for Shehbaz, says Bilawal

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said that the party had decided to vote for “those who had come to ask” for the prime minister’s election.

He said that the Sunni Ittehad Council, which is now home to PTI-backed independents, did not ask for his vote. “Now how are they objecting that someone is forming the government? […] they were not in any position to form a government in any situation,” he said.

“They decided themselves that they will not ask. So the only option we have is to give a chance to those asking […] PPP will give its input using the parliamentary system,” he said.

“We are thankful to the SIC, they had Maryam Nawaz elected chief minister unopposed. They also did not oppose election of Murad Ali Shah. They did not ask for my vote or convince me not to vote for Shehbaz Sharif, so I think we should thank the PTI and SIC that Shehbaz will also be elected unopposed.”

SIC entitled to reserved women and minority seats, says PTI’s Barrister Gohar

PTI leader Barrister Gohar Khan has said the allocation of reserved women and minority seats is a right of the Sunni Ittehad Council.

In a post on X, he said 86 PTI-backed MNAs had joined the SIC while 107 Punjab MPAs and 90 KP MPAs were officially members of the SIC.

“Getting reserved seats is the SIC’s right which cannot be given to any other political party,” Gohar said.
