Bangladesh, Oman explore broader trade, investment, migration cooperation
Bangladesh and Oman on Saturday explored partnerships in trade, investment and skilled migration to broaden bilateral relations beyond their traditional focus on the labour market.
The issues were discussed when State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir met Omani Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy in Baghdad, a foreign ministry press release said.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, promoting skilled migration and exploring the possibility of establishing an institutional framework for bilateral trade.
The meeting also stressed the importance of increasing business-to-business and people-to-people contacts to make bilateral relations more substantive.
