Bangladesh, Iraq sign MoUs on visas, political consultations
Bangladesh and Iraq on Saturday signed two memorandum of understanding (MoUs) providing for visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders and establishing a mechanism for regular political consultations.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Hussein signed the instruments in Baghdad on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Baghdad, a foreign ministry press release said.
One MoU provides for mutual exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports, while the other establishes a mechanism for regular political consultations between the two countries.
At the signing ceremony, the two ministers exchanged greetings and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the friendly and cooperative relations between Bangladesh and Iraq.
They expressed confidence that the agreements would give fresh momentum to bilateral engagement and open new avenues for cooperation.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Iraq Major General Md Maksudul Haque was present at the ceremony.
