The Ayub Khan Era played a significant role in Pakistan's political and constitutional history. He introduced the Elective Bodies Disqualification Order (EBDO) and the Public Offices Disqualification Order (PODO) to contain corruption and nepotism. He also introduced a basic democratic system to transfer power at the grassroots level. He introduced the Basic Democratic System (B.D System). In 1964, the government held a presidential election. Unfortunately, the conspiracy against Muhtarma Fatima Jinnah was not won, and she lost her seat. The era of Gen. Ayub Khan confronted the Indo-Pak war in 1965, which ended with the declaration of Tashkent, a peace agreement on 10 January 1966. The regime of Ayub Khan (1958-68) was known as the golden economic era because of his economic growth, prosperity, and the growing status of Pakistan on the superior level on the world stage. However, politically, he faced failure due to the inferiority of Eastern Pakistan, which worsened the situation. Finally, General Ayub Khan said goodbye, and instead of handing the power over to the public representatives, it was handed over to the Army commander, General Yahya Khan.

There are folks in our country who blame the army for all our ills. However the poor army has always come out and gone out of their way by offering help to our civilian leaders if there’s anything they can do to help stabilize our country. Mager nahi bhai…..every man n his dog blames the army for our destruction and it’s just not true at all. Ayub khan sahb was the best leader we ever had and he actually/ genuinely did care about our country. Unfortunately we’ll never have a good person like him in office again.

All the Pakistani defense forums online are full of children whose parents don't even know about Ayub Khan. The current army is not the same army under Ayub Khan's command.

He created Suparco, Mangla dam, Tarbela dam, created Isloo from scratch, Kanupp, PINSTEC, expanded Kemari with 11 new berths, got us sabres, starfighters, B-57's, 6 destroyers for our PN and a sub and 10 other auxiliary vessels. More than a 1000 M-47/ 48's/ M-109's/ M-113's along with 2000 artillery pieces. Established army aviation with over 50 helo's and AOP aircraft. Established PAF's logistics wing with 6 C-130's. Started our secret nuclear facility at Khushab and Kahuta. Created Keenjhar/ Haleji lakes. Created 10 new military bases. Set the foundation for both the PIA/ PR. after 65 war he had the Shah Iran give us 90 sabres to recoup our losses. Opened up our relations with China.......He did things that no other leader has done yet. We held our heads up high in 65 war because of him. People respected our country and we were a proud nation........aur aaj dekhay koi hamaray mulk ko.

ayub khan was another general that flooded people by building a fcuking dam which ppl of azad k dont benefit from.

But unfortunately General Khan promoted agricultural irrigation programs which later resulted in the disastrous overpopulation crisis that we face today:

It may have been a better time for Pakistan. But still I think the Musharraf administration and the Zia ul Haq administration were also good as well.

Musharraf did a lot of benefits for the economy and laid fundamental groundwork for the economy of Pakistan from 2001-2006 in particular.

He was in a tough position in 2001 when Bush threatened Pakistan by saying "you are with us or with the terrorists - and we will bomb you to the stone age".

Musharraf did a lot of benefits for the economy and laid fundamental groundwork for the economy of Pakistan from 2001-2006 in particular.

He was in a tough position in 2001 when Bush threatened Pakistan by saying "you are with us or with the terrorists - and we will bomb you to the stone age".

True, Musharraf took the "practical" option by siding with USA. But I think Musharraf made too many concessions to USA at the time lol. But then who are we to judge Musharraf, those were like desperate times. lol.
