Of course, they did everything to ensure their own loss, but this was a reckoning that was a long time coming due to many factors, the economy and inflation being top in the minds of a population not in the forefront of the minds of the Democratic party leaders, who had no idea what issues were really important to US voters at large. Their woke elitism was defeated by common sense populism, and the results show that clearly. Now, whether Trump can deliver on what he has promised by his demagoguery remains to be seen, but he does have a strong deck of cards to play with after this decisive victory.
And lastly, as I have said many times before, USA is what it is despite its Presidents, not because of them. Its institutions are working just fine, and thus the country remains strong, no matter what the naysayers might say or wish.
