Do rotary engines have a future in UAVs?

I recently came across this new new type of engine that seems promising. What do you guys think?

Fun little presentation on the engine topic - Thanks.

However I don't see a huge future for Wankel engines and its unlimited development - the liquid piston diesel engine. The engines may be a bit complicated to assemble compared to even regular Atkinson cycle four bangers, and even those fossil fuel engines are being abandoned quickly in favor of electrics. Just my $.02.

I had experience driving a late model RX-7 in the 2000s with Rotary Wankel drivetrain occasionally (friend's ride), and although refined via three decades of development, its Noise and Vibration experience left me wanting more. In every other measure (delicate suspension geometry, handling, interior appointments) it was a spectacular vehicle.

But Mazda has not abandoned Wankels despite public disapproval. The planned new 2025 RX-7 still has dual rotary wankels to assist in a hybrid drivetrain. Let's see if things will stick this time around.
