No one here uses water bodies like lakes rivers or the sea. The visarjan is a symbolic dubki. No one leaves those giant moorti in the water. They are eventually removed. And for most (99%) of smaller idola, special water tanks are used. Its all very organised, eco friendly and extremely well oiled the huge procession of thousands of moortis accompanied by their people and trucks and dhol tashas. Through the public streets. Its going on as I type this. Will last 24 hours. Started last evening.

They following a religion and basing their official national identity on and of that of a desert people they ruled over as a shitbilla fringe of their empire for 3000+ years.
