and food, man.. I love middil eastern food, lotsa grilled meat, salad, no much mirchi and oil/lard like we desis do it.

Ijraeli food is lagbhag sem-2-sem with many shared stuff.. falafel, humus, shakshuka, doner kebap, shawarma.. is good stuff.

Lebanon is an interesting place, 3 main factions, the dominant Shia, the somewhat 'oppressed' Sunnis, and the Xtians (70% mulls, almost 30% xties, and a sprinkling of other minorities)

My friend went some years ago, Sunnis are kinda poor, Xties are rich, Shia are a mix monies wise), apparently some neighborhoods still bear the marks of the civil war, apartment buildings still carry bullet marks, and there's still urban firefights.. whole thing is a bit nuts.

Also some of the prettiest women in the world, which is true for Iran too. My doner is ready to meet a nice Lebanese girl.
Haan Lebanese are very semitic looking. I’ve seen many that look like Henry Kissinger or Golda Meir or Einsteind ka ulla.

Total yahudi shakal.

Turkey is seeing a boom in winemaking, with hundreds of new producers emerging over the last few years. The trend runs counter the Islamist, conservative policies of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that have included restrictions and taxes on alcohol. Dorian Jones reports from Manisa, Turkey.

Turkey is NOT an Islamist entity, far from it. Though there is respect for all religions, I must say.

Brother @LegionnairE - is winemaking in Turkey limited to Cabernet Reds and Shiraz types or are White Zinfandels common as well?

Winemaking and vineyards date back to Roman times in Turkey, their exports are pretty good I hear.

I am partial to Turkish Doner Kebap and Shawarma - they taste more authentic. There are quite a few joints around my hood. You have to split this much food for two people.

Love it, I always ask for some extra charred crispy bits off the big slab. Carcinogenic, some say, but I love the crunch, and the smokey aftertaste.

Mezze xhite, kibbeh/kibbet fried ones too.. with a salat, pickled cucumber/chilli, other fresh greens.. the sauces/dips like tahini etc are amazing too.. proper relatively healthy light on the system stuff, perfect for hot climates, and it does get searing hot here in India too.. good stuff, wash it all down with a beer.

I was actually contemplating a nihari and almost called for one, but then inki yaad aai.. a Kashmiri specialist place.. no restaurant, only delivery or catering for bigger events.. their menu is rather limited in case you're only in it for a small meal but all the favs are there.. tabak maaz, marchwangan korma etc
