The momentum is lost for now due to student revolution to oust your granny Hasina.

Is there any plan to revive it? I listen to a You tube video (Translated) of a Bangladeshi youtuber on Boycott India campaign. He said that India's export to BD is about 3.5% of India's total export. That Boycott will have insignificant impact on India's export/Economy, but BD will suffer a lot in Medical and other export. In comment, people trolled him a lot and declared him Traitor. I think there is a lot of Hatred for India and Hindus in BD.

There is absolutely no hatred for Bangladeshi Hindus in BD. They are our brothers and sisters. As are Hindus from West Bengal. The same blood flows in our veins. Religions are secondary.

Because of Modi and Amit Shah deriding comments on Bangladeshis (and generally stepmotherly treatment) - there is definitely disappointment. We know these are vote getting tactics in India but these are (to Bangladeshis) cheap shots.

Bangladesh (the largest importer of cotton globally) will be looking for alternate sources of cotton imported from India, which is roughly 25% of total cotton imports for Bangladesh. If India is sidelined for cotton imports, Indian exporters will suffer.

We are aiming to export around [2.8 million] bales of cotton globally, out of which [2 million] bales will be sent to Bangladesh alone” in the 12 months ending in September, Atul Ganatra, president of the Cotton Association of India told Al Jazeera.

I am always amused to hear Indian commenters' reports about Bangladesh being 'dependent' on some Indian export or the other. In International business, there is no 'dependency'. Bangladesh can import cotton from anywhere, China, Pakistan, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, even the USA. Cotton especially, is a commodity item, with prices largely stabilized.

Indian media commenters somehow want to prove how dependent Bangladesh is on India.

It is not. Buyers are never "dependent" on sellers. They are free to buy from anywhere.

Bangladesh is the largest importer of Indian products in South Asia. No other country in South Asia imports Indian products more than Bangladesh.

BD's export totally dependent on raw material they receive from India. Your textiles Industry can not survive without Indian import. Since the ouster of Hasina, BD textile industry is down and biggest beneficiary is India.

  • During Oct’24, Indian Textile exports was about 56% higher as compared to Oct’23 while Apparel exports registered a significant growth of 35.06% during the same time period.
  • Cumulative exports of Textiles and Apparel during Oct’24 have registered a growth of 93% over Oct’23.

So far as food grain and food Items are concerned, It has a big demand outside India and we have to put a check on export. UN urged India to lift a ban on export to ensure sufficient supply to different countries of the world. We are exporter of over half of rice export. It is in high demand. There are many nations in world who are in queue to import India's agriculture products. In this scenario, how BD's ban on import is going to affect India when Total Export to BD amounts to just 3.5% of India's export.

That is whay I advocate Boycott India campaign to teach India a lesson. What say?

Teaching India a lesson is not the objective of the campaign. The objective is more far-reaching, meaning local companies becoming more self-sufficient is producing FMCG products, for which the amount of goods imported from India is too high.

We can't keep importing toothpaste and shampoo from another country - it is embarrassing for a country of 175 Million.

Bangladesh' cotton imports from India are maybe 20% of total cotton imports.
